Spike Strips Found on RidingTrail

By james | April 7, 2010

Someone has been setting spike strips out on a trail in the Nova Scotia area in the hopes of flattening the tires of ATV, Pit Bike and UTV riders! This is not cool.

For the last 4 years an unknown individual(s) have been setting these “traps”. Police have received complaints about the noise that the ATVs and pit bikes make from certain homes near the trail.

The trail is approved for use by ATVs and pit bikes and any other activity. Devices like the one found Sunday could affect anyone.

“A jogger could drive one of these spikes right through their foot and have a life-long disability because of it,”. “If a horse steps on it (that) could affect the animal but also (the rider) who could be thrown and you could be talking a broken neck.”

I can’t believe someone could do this. Hopefully they will be caught soon-before someone gets hurt.
